About the Chronicles
The Chronicles of Charlie is my attempt to create an old-time pulp serial for the Web. I had quite a bit of fun putting my first shot at a novel online (you can see it here), and after a bunch of different attempts at another long-form piece of fiction, I decided to go with this.
I am going to put a new episode up…well, it started out as every two weeks, then I took most of the summer of 2005 off (honestly, I was kind of out of it), and have started up again. Here’s what goes into an episode:
I. I write a draft.
II. I sit on it for a few days, then re-write it.
III. I send it to my editor, and she marks it up and sends it back to me.
IV. I re-write it again.
As I’m currently knee-deep in several different projects, that doesn’t leave a whole lot of breathing room, and that’s part of the reason that I’m doing this. I tend to write well under pressure, and it’ll be kind of fun to see what this kind of schedule will do to me. Hopefully it won’t result in any stories that are too crappy.
About Me
I’m Dan. I’m 30 and live in San Francisco, after stints in Boston, New York, and Chicago. If you want to see the mundane details of my life, you can check my regular blog here.
If you want to drop me a line, you can email me: dan at oilies.com. Or, leave a comment in the episode comment sections; I read them regularly.
